Q: The rear differential is running really noisy on my 2006 Jeep Liberty?
The rear differential is running really noisy on my 2006 Jeep Liberty...I bought the Jeep new and I've already exceeded 36000 miles on the bumper to bumper...does any know how long the Powertrain warranty on a new 2006 Jeep was? Please help. Thank you.
A: The powertrain warranty on that is 7/70. But if the dealer pulls the cover and the fluid has never been changed they can deny the warranty. But most of the time they won't. Typically the adjuster clips break on those letting chunks of metal float around in there and also letting the adjusters walk back and it usually screws up the bearings.

A: if not, this may sound silly but do you have a Dollar store near you, if so look for a product they carry called awesome.comes in a 20 Oz bottle.

Q: How do I set the clock on my 2006 Jeep Liberty's CD player?
I cannot determine what button or combination of buttons to push to set the clock on the radio/cd player to set the time of day.
Unfortunately, I do not have the owner's manual.
A: Why don't you check the manual? You could always just stop by the dealership or even the next time you get an oil change ask your mechanic to do it for you.
Q: How is a 2006 Jeep Liberty on gas? Are they good vehicles?
I am looking at buying one next week, so any help would be great. Thanks
A: All I have ever owned are Jeeps. My girlfriend drives a liberty and she loves it. Unfortunately, Jeeps aren't good on gas, thats not what they are built to do. They are built to get you through anything and thats what they do! The liberty gets about 17mpg city and around 18-19 highway I believe. But they are safe, reliable, and fun. Especially if you live in a place where it will snow and have bad weather where it does its job!
Q: Is there any tax issues with my mother-in-law selling us a 2006 Jeep Liberty for $1?
My mother-in-law bought and paid for this vehicle in Arizona. She will have the title very soon.
A: There is. This is not an arms-length transaction because the transaction is taking place between relatives. She is selling the vehicle for less than its real value. The IRS has special rules that apply to these transactions. You pay the tax on the true value of the gift or what one person would typically sell that car to a stranger.
You could talk to a tax accountant as to how best to work this transaction.
You should come up with a true value for the vehicle. That will be the amount the IRS will say is gifted to you. She is allowed to gift you something like $11,000 per person without tax consequences. You will want to verify that amount because it changes periodically. The vehicle is probably worth more than $22,000. Therefore, it would probably be best if the title were transferred from your father-in-law and mother-in-law to you and your spouse. That should cover $44,000 worth of vehicle tax free.
There are other possibilities as well. She could gift your children some money and you could pay her that amount in cash for the car. I don't know if that would fly with the IRS.
You can actually call the IRS and discuss these issues free of charge. After all you need to know the tax implications of various transactions before they are conducted.
Q: The interior in a 2006 Jeep Liberty?
Can anyone tell me how to get stains like a soda out of a seat in a 2006 Jeep Liberty without ruining the seats.
A: Steam cleaning is the best option. You don't want to use too many chemicals on that material. Any good detail shop should be able to do it for you for $75 or so.
Q: Differences between a 2002 and 2006 Jeep Liberty?
The '02 Libby came with 215/75/16 tires. The only tire I can find that is that size is GOODYEAR WRANGLER ST, and they seem to be rare.
I own a 2006 Libby and it came with 225/75/16 tires.
I wouldn't want to stray from OEM on the '02 Libby, except that the two vehicles appear identical in as far as the wheel wells and associated parts. Does anyone know if there is any difference in the two? Should I just go ahead and put 225/75s on the '02?
A: Talk with your tire supplier. You should be able to put almost any 16" tire on the car as long as two conditions are met.
1. The rim must be able to accept the tire,
2. The tire must not scrub on any part of the car.
The differences are the width of the tire. 215 or 225 cm, a difference of 10 cm or about 4" and the aspect ratio.. You may need to replace the rims to accommodate the widerr tire. Also, moving to a lower aspect ratio or profile, a smaller second number, may resolve any potential scrubbing problems.
The aspect ratio is the second number and indicates the height of the tire as a percentage of the width. An ar of 75 means that the tire height is 75% of the width. If you move to a wider tire (225) at the same aspect ratio, then the actual tread to tread diameter of the tire (not the rim) will be greater. So you should consider a 225/65 or a 225/55. The ride will be a little rougher because of the shorter sidewall but your choice of tires may be expanded.
Q: Will the engine block heater also warm my battery in my Jeep Liberty 2006 CRD?
Several weeks ago, while in Colorado, my Jeep wouldn't start after a very cold night. The temp dipped to -11F, which resulted in my diesel gelling, and my gel-cell battery doing the same. With the aid of a mechanic I was able to eventually get it started. By plugging in the engine block heater, will my battery stay warm as well, or do I need something else to keep it warm?
A: they did not come with a battery heater. if you go to your dealer they can look in the accessory catalog for a cold weather kit or standalone battery heater. i have never had to put one on but i would say that they are available.
Q: How much for Satellite radio dealer installed in dash 2006 jeep liberty?
I was charged 199.00 for sat radio. Dealer told me thats just for the connections to sat. For programming read out it will cost 1600.00 additional. Is this true? Where can I find out about this?
A: $1600? you are getting screwed. you can buy a system from Wal-Mart for $50 that you install yourself. I paid $150 for a 2 year contract with Sirius for programming
If you already have the equipment in the Jeep, I believe that it is Sirius. forget the dealer and call Sirius yourself or go to Sirius.com
Q: Is it tacky to buy 16 inch black rims for my new 2006 Jeep Liberty?
I don't want to/can't afford to buy new tires, but I don't know if it would be tacky to have a nice hip rim but it only be 16's instead of at least 18's.
A: law of the road is no real need to get new rims if not supplying new tires as well. no real purpose of keeping stock tires and getting new rims. you COULD, but not recommend. trust me, you get the 16's you'll like them but eventually down the road, maybe 2-3 months you'll REALLY wish you would've gotten the 18's. just save until you can get new rims AND tires. be worth it then.
also, don't get black rims unless your car is black. black rims on any other color car is a street no no as well. any color other than black, get chrome. UNLESS it;s a dark gray then it's okay.
Q: how do you install factory running boards on a 2006 jeep liberty?
What is pinch weld moldings?
A: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159477. This site has a forum in which you could probably get good info.
Q: 4X4 Jeep liberty 2006 if im city driving does my overdrive need to be on or off?
I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I say one thing and my husband says another, I was always taught that in the city you drive with your over drive off and only turn it on on the freeway, does anyone know the answer to this question, also if you have a jeep liberty any news on it would be greatly appreciated, I just bought mine three weeks ago. Thanks to all who reply.
A: ya id keep it on or else your going to be paying a lot of money on gas because your car is going to be in the higher rpms all the time when its off. its not going to ruin your jeep so dont worry about that. some people even turn it off then turn it on after 40 thats pointless as well just save yourself time and effort and just leave it on and dont listen to anyone else. overdrive just gives your car a cruising gear so you dont sit in the high rpms and the only reason there is an option to turn it off is if you tow things you turn it off so you get the full rpm range while towing or if you cant make it up a hill because of too much weight in the car or what ever it will drop out of overdrive so you can go up the hill with more ease.
