Q: 1979 Jeep Cherokee, will a AMC 360 motor from a 1983 Jeep Wagoneer fit?

A: it wont go right in,,if that's what your asking,,and no,,all jeeps aren't the same,,jeep under went a change in body design as you can see,,and a 360 will fit it,,but it takes a lot of changing,,if your wagoneer didn't have a v-8,,and you didn't say whether it did or not,,you have to change a lot of stuff around to make it work,,but if you have the vehicle 360 came out of you can make it work,i have did this before,,we built one for a pull and had to change a lot of stuff,,but we had both vehicles,,so that made it easy,,i hope this help,s you some i do this for a living,,6 days a week.

Q: Looking for ideas in seling my Classic Wagoneer?
I have a 1979 Jeep Wagoneer in great condition, all mechanically rebuilt. Does anyone know sites I can market it on? Or ideas on selling it?? This is not a junker, and when I put in places like Craigslist, people expect it to be. I have never been able to find someone to look at it. It is really nice, and MAN does it run nice!!!!!

A: Yes,try your local Jeep or car club. You can even look up the closet AMO club(American Motors Owners Association).I belong to my local Chapter in NJ area. These guys/girls are all about AMC and Jeep and have the parts and knowledge to keep these Wagoneers running.Check them out,if they have a local show coming up you might want to show up w/ a for sale sign and the title.Good Luck from the Javelin Man....

Q: Why won't a 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief transmission shift out of first?
I have a 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief, 360 CID. I am not sure if the automatic transmission is original. It does feel like the 3-speed auto that should be in there based on experience with a 1989 Grand Wagoneer. Anyway, I was driving down the interstate and the transmission shifted itself down and now will only go in first or reverse. I have replaced the vaccum shift nodule that goes on the side of the trans to no avail and no hoses seem to be disconnected. What could be doing this? Is it expensive? Can I do it myself? The only info I can find on the web seems to say it may have a bad governor?? Thanks!!

A: you may want to change the fluid and filter. had the dame thing happen to me twice and that fixed it. your tranny needs to be able to pump fluid t shift and if the filter is clogged it won't.
